Current Activities:

In addition to teaching of under graduates & post graduates student admitted to various courses like M.B.B.S, B.D.S, OT, PT, AST & Nursing, the department is unique in its approach to the practice of community medicine through development & operationalization of following community based health care services programme.

The programmes serve the health needs of the urban & rural poor & provide opportunities for teaching, training & research work for under graduates & post graduate medical & nursing students, PHC staff & Anganwadi health workers. The projects are:

    		•  Rural Health and Development Project in rural field practice areas covered by PHC-Parole & Bhatane, Taluka - Vasai, District - Thane.

    		•  Nutritional Rehabilitation Programme for severely malnourished children in the tribal areas of PHC - Sakharshet, Tal. - Jawhar, District - Thane.

    		•  Reproductive and Child Health Programme in the tribal areas of Thane district.
  •  
    		•  Epidemiological study of anaemia in adolescent girls at urban health centre, Cheetah Camp in collaboration with Research Society of Nair Hospital.
  •  
    		•  Research study to assess the efficacy of Hepatitis B vaccination at Mahad in collaboration with Research Society of Nair Hosital and PRIDE INDIA.
  •  
    		•  " Administration of Internship Training Programme.
  •  
    		•  " Operationalisation of Participatory Community Need Assessment.
  •  
    		•  " Co-ordinating the training of private practitioners and hospital staff, NGO and CBO functionaries in HIV/AIDS Awareness.

    		•  " Approach in Implementation of National Reproductive and Child Health Programme in Slum areas of Municipal Council, Parbhani.
