General Surgical OPD: (OPD 3)
General Surgery is conducted on the first floor of the New Hospital building.
Trauma Care Centre: (Accident & Emergency Service - Ward 28)
This unit is managed round-the-clock by the General Surgical Unit on call.
Gastro Enterology Surgical Service: (GESS-OPD 38)
Dr. S.G. Shenoy & Dr. A.K. Gvalani are in-charge of this subspeciality.
Wednesday & Saturday: 11.30 am to 12.30 noon.
This subspeciality is concerned with:
Major open surgery : which includes complex Hepato Pancreatic Biliary surgery.
Laparoscopic Surgery : Basic & advanced procedures.
Endoscopy Procedures : Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures like ERCP are routinely performed.
Kasturba Hospital, which is an infectious diseases hospital, is directly under care of Nair Hospital hence cases of Obstructive Jaundice in particular are being managed by this department on regular basis.
Endocrine Surgery: (OPD 19)
Dr. P.P. Shilotri is in-charge of this subspeciality. He has been an Executive Committee member of the Association of Endocrine Surgeons of India (a chapter of The Association of Surgeons of India).
The OPD is run on Monday & Wednesday between 11.00 am to 1.00 noon along with Endocrinology Department and Radioisotope Unit.
Stoma Clinic: (OPD 35)
Here trained enterostomal therapists counsel patients undergoing any "Ostomy" - on Monday / Tuesday / Friday - 9.30 to 11.30 am.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Centre:
This Centre has been made available by the department at Kasturba Hospital for HBOT in case of gas gangrene, acute head injuries, badly infected wounds etc.
Geriatric Surgical Clinic: (OPD 26)
This clinic is looked after by Dr. A.K. Gvalani on every Thursday 11.30 am to 1.30 pm.
Radiation Oncology Centre:
Dr. M.K. Sanjana is attached to this centre for guidance.
