History:

  •  
    		•  Department developed and established by Dr. L.H. Hiranandani in 1948.
  •  
    		•  Audiology and Speech Therapy Department was started along with ENT Department in January 1963.
  •  
    		•  ENG Laboratory - Kishinchand Chellaram Vestibular Research Laboratory with Vertigo Clinic.
  •  
    		•  State-of-the-art Temporal bone dissection laboratory established by Dr. L.H. Hiranandani.
  •  
    		•  Seminar room.
  •  
    		•  OT with 4 tables - Zeiss Microscope with video and T.V. monitor with CC camera and printer (Facilities for teaching and documentation).


    Achievements:

  •  
    		•  1st operative ENT workshop held in 1978.
  •  
    		•  Otoneurosurgery, Head and Neck surgery, Rhinoplasty, endoscopic sinus -surgery courses were held.
  •  
    		•  Endoscopy of the ear -1st time in our country was demonstrated by Dr. Andre Sultan and his team.
  •  
    		•  44th Annual Conference of AOI in 1992 conducted in Mumbai ( Secretariat was at ENT Department).

    		•  Role of cefuroxime Axetil in Acute ENT infections (Glaxo- India).
    Research society of T.N.Medical College,1990.


    Research Projects:

  •  
    		•  Role of Autografts in middle ear reconstruction.
    Nair Golden Jubilee Research Foundation, 1994-95.
  •  
    		•  A comparative study on use of total and partial ossicular replacement prosthesis and autografts in Tympanoplasty.
    CSIR Aided Research Project 1993-1996.
