... Endocrinology: Special Patient Care Facilities


This department is essentially a center for the diagnosis and management of Endocrinologic Disorders.


The following special tests are conducted in the Department:

Estimation of the following Hormones (RIA):
- FSH, LH
- Prolactin
- Testosterone
- Cortisol
- Growth Hormone
- T3, T4, TSH

Immunology:
- AMA, ATA, GAD

Biochemistry pertaining to Endocrinology:
- Blood glucose
- GTT
- HbA1c
- Microalbuminuria
- Cholesterol
- Triglycerides
- Urine glucose
- Urine pH
- Acid load test
- S.calcium, phosphorus, creatinine
- Semen analysis

Sex Chromatin / Karyotyping for Genetic Disorders:
The hormone assays are done by Radio-immunoassays and ELISA . Hormone assays are done only for patients seen in the department of Endocrinology, after which appropriate tests are planned.


We are planning to introduce the following tests on a regular basis, shortly:

  • Estimation of islet-cell, parietal-cell, anti-adrenal and Thyroid receptor antibodies.
  •  
  • Assays for 25-hydroxy D3, 1,25-dihydroxy D3, osteocalcin, and cross linked telopeptide of type I collagen for evaluation of patients with metabolic bone disorders.
  •  
  • Urinary metanephrine.
