The Cardiology department has 8 bedded ICCU and 16 bedded ward facility. The ICCU is attached with cath-lab. Non-invasive laboratory has exercise electro-cardiography, Doppler echo-cardiography, and ambulatory electro-cardiography.
[A] Non-Invasive:
ICCU: The ICCU has 8 monitored beds and is fully equipped to deal with every type of cardiac emergencies like acute myocardial infarction, acute left ventricular failure, unstable angina, rhythm disturbances and in cardiac tamponade.
Patients undergoing intracoronary interventions including primary angioplasty, primary stenting, elective angioplasty, elective stenting, valvular interventions, and pacemaker implantations that require ICCU have been managed efficiently in ICCU.
In the ICCU various bedside procedures like central venous catheterization, swan-ganz catherization, temporary trans venous pacing, percardiocentesis, and radial artery cannulation are performed.
Wards: We have 11 bedded male ward and 5 bedded female ward to take care of in-patients who are haemodynamically stable.
Referral Services: Referral services are provided to other departments of the hospital requiring routine and emergency cardiac consultation.
Out-Patient Department: The OPDs are conducted twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. Approximately 20 new cases and 40 follow-up cases are examined on each OPD.
Computerised Stress Test: We perform and report 5-6 CSTs per day for diagnostic and prognostic evaluation.
Ambulatiory Electrocardiography (Holter Monitoring): Have facility to perform and analyze ambulatory electrocardiography recordings. The recordings have been done using either the digital Holter recorder or the analogue cassette recorder (SEER).
Echo-Cardiography with Colour Doppler: We perform 15 to 20 echocardiographies on elective and emergency basis 24 hours a day in patients of rheumatic, congenital, ischeamic pericardial, and myocardial heart disease.
[B] Invasive:
Cath-Lab: The catheterization laboratory performs 1000-1200 procedures per year. These include pediatric and adult diagnostic and interventional procedures including coronary angiography, balloon valvuloplasty, coronary angioplasty and stenting, rotablation, single and dual chamber pace-maker implantation.
We are getting Flat panel Digital Hi-cor Axiom-artis Siemens cath-lab by August end.
