... Audiology and Speech Therapy: History & Special Activities

History:

The Gagalbhai Audiology Clinic was established in 1966 thanks to the untiring efforts of Dr. L.H. Hiranandani, Prof. Emeritus and former Head - ENT Department. The credit for planning the initial two-year diploma course goes to Shri. R.K. Oza. The course was soon upgraded to a Bachelor's programme (1967), the first Degree programme in this profession in India! Later it became a three-year Degree course in Audiology and Speech Therapy (1977) affiliated to the University of Bombay.

The Department celebrated its Silver Jubilee Year in 1987-1988 wherein it hosted the Annual ISHA Conference. The Past Students' Association - AST School was formed in April 1987. A dream was realised when the Master's Programme was started in 1994 after overcoming many hurdles. The affiliation of the above courses has been transferred to the M.U.H.S. Nashik with change in nomenclature B.A.S.L.P..
