We are primarily a teaching department and train 1st year students of M.B.B.S, B.D.S, B.Oth, B.Pth, B.A.S.L.P & Nursing courses in the subject of Human Anatomy. This includes imparting an in depth knowledge of Gross Anatomy Clinical Anatomy, Neuro Anatomy, Embryology, Histology & Genetics by means of lectures, tutorials, dissection, practicals, seminars & group discussions.
The department also offers a 3 year postgraduate course in Anatomy leading to the degree of M.S(Anatomy) of the University of Mumbai. The post graduate students are trained through a series of post graduate lectures, micro teaching sessions, hands on practical training in dissection & histological techniques. Our eminent post- graduate teachers guide them on their dissertations projects. Theory and practical exams are held periodically for post -graduate students for assessment, which help them excel during university exams.
We also have a Journal club, which is held monthly during which papers, focusing on various aspects are presented by the staff members.
We also conduct internal and university examinations at undergraduate and post graduate levels.(MUHS and MUMBAI University respectively).
We carry out study of Barr body only in cases of congenital anomalies or primary amenorrhoea reffered by department of Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, BYL Nair Ch. Hosp.

To acquire "Carl Zeiss AXIOSKOP - 40" Research Microscope for teaching and research purposes.
